Shri Satish Chandra Dubey, Hon’ble Minister of State for Coal and Mines, Government of India, visited Eastern Coalfields Limited on 13th May 2026 and reviewed the company’s operational performance, strategic initiatives, and future growth roadmap. He was warmly received by Shri Satish Jha, CMD, ECL, along with Md. Anzar Alam, Director (Finance), Shri Gunjan Kumar Sinha, Director (HR), Shri Girish Gopinathan Nair, Director (Technical) and senior officials of the company. As part of the visit, the Hon’ble Minister visited Kunustoria Area, where a ceremonial Guard of Honour was presented. During the review meeting, discussions were held on coal production, dispatch, mine safety, operational efficiency, sustainability initiatives, and technological advancement in mining operations. The Hon’ble Minister appreciated ECL’s commendable performance during FY 2025–26 and acknowledged several progressive initiatives including Underground Coal Gasification, scientific mine closure activities, First Mile Connectivity projects, expansion of solar energy installations, and sustainable mining practices. He emphasized the importance of balancing production with environmental responsibility, efficient resource utilization, improved safety standards, and systematic stock verification measures. Highlighting the crucial role of ECL in strengthening the nation’s energy security amid evolving global energy challenges, Shri Dubey expressed confidence in Team ECL’s capability to achieve greater milestones in the future. He also assured continued support from the Ministry of Coal for addressing developmental and operational matters requiring coordination at State and Central levels. The visit reaffirmed the Government’s commitment towards strengthening India’s coal sector and recognised ECL’s continued contribution towards meeting the nation’s energy requirements.
