Eastern Coalfields Limited celebrated World Environment Day 2026 at Mahatma Gandhi Udyan, ECL HQs, in the esteemed presence of Shri Satish Jha, CMD, Md. Anzar Alam, Director (Finance), Shri Gunjan Kumar Sinha, Director (HR) and Shri Girish Gopinathan Nair, Director (Technical/P&P). Addressing the gathering, Shri Satish Jha emphasized that environmental stewardship must be a year-round mission. He announced a Rs.25,000.00 cash award for the most impactful geo-tagged plantation initiative undertaken by employees and their families during the year. ECLs environmental roadmap for the year ahead focuses on: Geo-tagged plantation drives Plastic waste utilisation for value-added products Enhanced supply of treated mine water to communities Cleanliness, scrap disposal and scientific e-waste management The programme featured plantation activities, environmental pledge, awareness initiatives and prize distribution, reinforcing ECLs commitment to sustainable mining, responsible resource management and community welfare.
